Floral Layout by Annemarie Caister - October Guest Designer
Hello everyone! We have a relatively new Certified Educator as our October Guest Designer today, please welcome Annemarie Caister. Annemarie completed her certification in August 2021. It came as a surprise to us that she is both a cardmaker and a scrapbooker! We grabbed the opportunity to invite her right away to guest design on the Mixed Media blog.
Get to know Annemarie
Hello from beautiful Christchurch, New Zealand! I’m Annemarie from The Crafty Kiwi and I have been scrapbooking and paper crafting for 20 years. I first learned card-making when I was at school and when only wood-mounted stamps existed and embossing powder was anything but superfine!
The crafting world is such a wonderful place to share, make friends, and just have fun doing something we all love. I would love to hear from you and welcome you to stop by and say hello!

Floral Layout
I decided to create a scrapbook layout and demonstrate how easy it is to incorporate many Altenew products into all kinds of paper crafts.
To start, I used mixed media paper for my base layer, added blue Lapis Lazuli crisp dye ink cube set using the ink smooshing technique which is really easy, fun to do and gives a unique and organic look. I used 2 sheets of 6x6 paper from the Celebrate paper pad, tore both sides for extra texture and interest and added them in a vertical line slightly to the left of the midline.
Next, I created a variety of different flowers in pastel colours from various Altenew stamp, stencil and die sets Meadow Bush die set, Peony Dream 3D die set, Jumbo Garden Picks Layering Die Set and Greenwood Flowers Layering Stencil Set layered them up and then had fun arranging them around the photos in 3 clusters and using odd numbers.
I added lots of dimension using Dimensional Foam Tape.
Under the floral clusters, I used the Reflections Die to cut out 2 pieces from kraft cardstock and place them as a grounding for the flowers.
I added black splatters using Jet Black ink and finished off the layout with some bling and sparkle by adding a clear shimmer pen to the flowers and some iridescent sequins around the layout.
The title was stamped from the Inked Lotus stamp set, trimmed into a banner and nestled it below the photos and amongst the flowers.
Some bling and for the finishing touches is always a must for me! I added some clear shimmer pen to the flowers and some iridescent sequins dotted around the layout for some added sparkle.
